Biography
Over the years Ken has
had the opportunity to play
guitar with some amazing musicians.
He started playing
guitar in his late teens and
quickly learned to play rhythms
to covers such as AC DC, Led
Zeppelin, Whitesnake, and
Black Sabbath. After a few
years of playing in a cover
bands Ken began
putting together some of his
own original guitar riffs
marking the beginning of his
journey into developing as a
lead guitarist.
From 1991 - 1996 Ken
played with
Roy Herzer an accomplished
arranger and trumpet player
and later with Chuck Hickman
a northwest phenom on the saxophone
among other very talented musicians
in the contemporary
Christian Northshore
Band. In 1997 Ken was invited
to join Ruth Collingridge as
a regular guitarist in her
band. Ruth is a song writer
and pianist and has written
and produced over 17 albums
and CD's through her record
label Spirit Song Celebration.
Ken got the opportunity
to travel as a part of
Ruth's band and play in some
of the nations larger conference centers.
Getting
the opportunity to work with
first class Rollins Productions
was a highlight.
In 2001 Ken, together
with Bill Sandell, started the original group,
Private Island. Ken and Bill
enjoyed playing and writing
music together and came up
with a unique rock and roll
sound. Logistics made it
difficult for all the
members to continue with the
band. In 2003 Ken
was invited to play lead
guitar in a local cover band
called "Killer the Blue
Donkey." Ken's
Guitar work really took off
during this time as playing
many different musicians
leads forces you to develop
a much greater repertoire of
skills.
Opportunity seems to be more
readily visible to those who
are looking. Bill Sandell
from "Private
Island" had been
playing with a band titled
"Quiver" and they
were looking for a guitar
player with the talent to
play lead. It took only one session for
guys to realize Ken had the
sound they were looking for.
The story continues as band
Monday Loss was born.
